About Our Groups
What We Are
We are an organization that has put together groups for special needs teens to hang out and be themselves together. It’s a way for them to be a part of a group and meet friends. We've Got Friends groups allow our teens to be who they are and do what they want in a safe, comfortable, and fun environment. We offer in-person and virtual groups, which allows parents to choose what works best for them and their family. There’s no judgment - no awkward looks - just lots of friends!
Join us and learn more about these special groups and how you and your family can be a part of it.
Our in-person groups are held by chapters, which is the area that groups are located in. Teens can select the location that allows them to hang out with friends that are close to where they live. Of course, families are welcome to attend other chapters and meet friends outside of their group. Currently in NJ we are at Montclair, West Orange, Paterson, and Newark. When we hang out in-person, the teens enjoy food, music, dancing, games, and crafts; and the best part is, there's NO COST to the families. We've Got Friends groups are a great way to make new friends and develop lasting relationships. As always, participate in your own way. The only rule required for our groups: A parent or caregiver must stay with the teen the entire time. Otherwise, all we ask is to be a good friend and stay safe. Please click below to register.
During the pandemic, We've Got Friends transitioned 100% to virtual groups. The kids enjoyed them so much we decided to keep them in addition to our in-person groups. We have virtual Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays for one hour with different themes to choose from. Our themes include SpongeBob, Trivia, Roblox, Sports Fan Club, Music, and Broadway Charades. Online, we play trivia, games, dance, listen to music, sing, or just talk together. All the sessions are FREE of charge. When you log on, participation is optional. Share this with your classmates, teachers, and anyone you want to join with you. Hanging out with a group can help make stronger connections. Please click below to register.
